Mrs. Becky Kelly, children’s education coordinator
Becky Kelly, a charter member of Christ Church, was born on Christmas Day in McComb, Mississippi. Perhaps that fact was prophetic in that she has spent almost her entire life in the lay service of the church. In addition to serving on a plethora of church boards and committees, she has sung in choirs, played handbells and has especially enjoyed teaching children in Sunday school, Bible schools and Bible studies.
Mrs. Kelly is a born and trained educator, having earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master’s degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University (SFASU). She holds several professional certifications and endorsements, including English as a Second Language and Teacher Appraiser Certification. She was employed for 31 years at Slack Elementary in Lufkin, first as a teacher, including 7 years in the Dual Language Program, and then, in her last years, as an Instructional Specialist. During her long tenure at the school, she wrote and received 9 grants and was a frequent presenter at educational conferences, including the Texas Association of Bilingual Education and the Texas Association for the Improvement of Reading. She retired from public school education in 2003 to become an Educational Consultant, and since 2005, she has been a Field Supervisor for the Department of Education at SFASU.
An avid reader, Becky also enjoys hunting, fishing, and gardening. She has been married to Roger Kelly since 1968.  They are the proud parents of son and daughter-in-law,  Ryan and Kellie Kelly, and are thrilled to be new grandparents to their lovely granddaughter, Keaton!
