Irresistible Grace

This doctrine teaches that the resistance that all human beings exert against God every day (Romans 3:10-12;  Acts 7:51) is wonderfully overcome at the proper time by God’s saving grace for undeserving rebels whom he chooses freely to save.  That is, God through the power of the Holy Spirit, gives us new hearts—hearts that naturally turn to God in trust. God doesn’t make us believe—but he changes our hearts supernaturally so that we do so as naturally as we once sinned and disbelieved.  Salvation is in one sense of the word, our choice, a choice we make freely—but only God’s prior choice of us makes that choice possible!
